Summary
From the pages of the VP:S game manual:
Our story begins hundreds of years before the legendary adventures
of Lenneth, the Battle Maiden.
Silmeria Valkyrie is charged by Odin, Lord of the Gods, to gather the souls of the fallen. Silmeria serves her
master faithfully until a certain incident causes her to doubt, and ultimately, rebel against, the law of Odin.
Odin immediately recognizes
the danger. He transmigrates Silmeria's soul and summons the next Battle Maiden in her place. But the Sovereign's
Rite, the divine spell used to transfer Silmeria's soul, is not completed.
Silmeria awakens within the body of a young princess of Dipan. The princess's name is Alicia.
Normally, valkyrie souls do not awaken when trapped within the body of a mortal. Lord Odin will not suffer one who defies his will to
remain alive and conscious.
One day, Odin will discover that the traitorous valkyrie lives. One day, he will bring divine retribution down upon her.
Timeline of Events
The following is a timeline of all the events mentioned in the
Einherjar backgrounds. It is written in a way that continues the "journalism bias" presented
within the English profiles. Much of their stories were lost or altered in translation.
It should be noted that much more infomation was disclosed in
the Japanese version, and after comparing the two, I find that they compliment each other quite
nicely. All text written in brackets is information gleaned from the Japanese version of
Silmeria, while the rest is info taken down and put together by me, after playing through the
English version. All text in the brackets is to be used solely to flesh out the storylines. I
will not be adding (Japanese) events that mirrored those in the English counterpart, but rather only those
that were vague territory presented in the English version.

time and effort he put into his timeline...=) Please do not reproduce that specific text without

- 80- Fraelgard, a military kingdom is erected on an island south of the mainland
100s
- 112- Mithra is born in Fraelgard
- 145- Fraelgard fends off invaders, but Mithra is captured on the battlefield, left there by order of the king.
- 146- Mithra dies after being brutally tortured for a year of confinement
200s
- 234- For unknown reasons, Fraelgard ceases to exist. (Fraelgard falls to ruin.)
300s
- 308- Atrasia is born in Tehm
- 324- Lwyn is born
- 333- Atrasia flees Tehm with her child, but dies of wounds and exhaustion (Atracia enters Nifleheim in order to restore life to her dead child, breaking an oath taken by the Tehm tribe and Valhalla; Odin retaliates by destroying the tribe.)
- 346- Lwyn dies after reporting the discovery of an ancient tomb
- 350- Falx is born in Gerabellum; his parents are killed shortly after, by Brahms
- 375- Falx dies (Falx challenges Brahms to a fight to the death)
- 390- Aegis is born in Solde
400s
- 418- Aegis dies at sea, fighting pirates (Aegis dies by not being able to swim, an ability forfeited to water elementals in exchange for something)
- 423- Psoron is born in Paltierre
- 445- Jessica is born in the Nethov region
- 450- Psoron dies in Paltierre (presumably)
- 468- 468- Jessica dies, after unleashing the spirit of an evil dragon (due to Odin's instigation)
500s
- 539- Khanon is born in Gorhla
- 548- Roland is born
- 550- Richelle is born
- 553- Adonis is born. Aaron is born in Arkdain
- 554- Farant is born in Lassen
- 555- Ehrde is born
- 556- Princess Celes is born as the heir to the throne in Dipan. Fraudir is born in Arkdain
- 562- Xehnon is born in Rosetta
- 563- Alm is born as the second prince in Paltierre
- 564- Princess Phyress is born in Dipan
- 567- Sylphide is born in Dipan, and is destined to become Princess Phyress's attendant
- 572- Gerabellum is attacked and Crescent is used for negotiating between the two parties. Crescent is rescued by Ehlen. (Crescent's family is killed by bandits, and she is henceforth protected by Ehlen. The War of Camille Hill begins. Principality of Paltierre, Arkdain Kingdom, Kingdom of Dipan and Lassen fight together against unseen enemy.)
- 573- Queen Celes leads the Dipan army out, for the incoming war. Seluvia is born in the small town of Rand (Guilm accompanies Celes as her second-in-command.)
- 574- Roland is ordered to participate in the brewing war, by the King of Arkdain. Richell is ordered to participate in the brewing war, by the king's brother, Count Leon
- 575- The War of Camille Hill begins. King Cyphel, Adonis, Celes, Guilm, Ehlen, Richelle, and Roland are known participants; all of their countries are allies. (The War of Camille Hill ends. Celes retires arms and marries the lord of Lassen.)
- 577- Roland and Richelle are ordered home and disappear in the Gorhla region. (Aaron and Fraudir resume leadership of the Knights of the Bloodsword and the White Lily.)
- 578- The Rosetta Dynasty forms. Xehnon falls under the influence of the Manuscript of Manifestation and rises up the ranks to Rosetta's court magician. (Xehnon falls under the influence of the Tome of the Eye, placed on Midgard by Odin and begins to instigate a war with the rest of the continent.)
- 579- The War of Camille Hill ends. Fraudir accompanies Count Leon in overthrowing the King of Arkdain and the Arkdain Uprising begins. (Khanon is behind the folly and corruption of the King and manipulates the two sides into a war called the Arcdain Rebellion.)
- 580- Crescent enlists with the Rosetta Dynasty's Knights of the Sun army and is appointed Meridian General. (Ehlen enlists with the Rosetta Dynasty's Knights of the Sun army and is appointed Horizon General, alongside Crescent.)
- 581- The Year-Long War is started by a possessed-Xehnon, who convinces the Rosetta King to invade the continent, starting with the occupation of Lassen (called the Lassen Invasions).
Khanon is assassinated whilst being annointed in Audoula Temple (Khanon is assassinated by Ehrde whilst being annointed as Pope)
Fraudir is killed in a duel by Aaron. Aaron dies after refusing treatment for his wounds, for Fraudir's honour
Ehrde is appointed Twilight General for Rosetta and kidnaps and takes Celes out of Lassen, but dies in the Battle of Artolia Pass
Farant dies during an operation to push the Rosetta army out of Lassen, killed by Crescent
Adonis joins as well during this time and is appointed Eclipse General, but is killed by Celes during the Invasions, in a duel
Celes fights for Rosetta, but is wounded by her sister, Queen Phyress, who fights with Sylphide for Dipan. She never recovers. (Phyress begins to travel with her attendents Sylphide and Guilm and participates in almost every skirmish known of that era.
Alm chooses to reside in Paltierre, while his brother and father King Cyphel leave to fight
Sylphide nearly dies in the Battle of Rosetta but is rescued
Phyress burns the Manuscript of Manifestation and frees Xehnon.
Seluvia's hometown is attacked and becomes its sole survivor, rescued by Phyress of Dipan and is brought to Paltierre.
(Twilight and Eclipse Generals Ehrde and Adonis attack Lassen while the lord is gone away, and kidnap Celes, but not before she kills Adonis in a duel. The Arkdain Uprising ends, with Leon's forces claiming victory in the capital. Captain Fraudir consents to defeat in a duel against Captain Aaron. Ehrde kills Khanon at Audoula Temple. An offense mounts against Paltierre, led by Ehlen. Celes joins Rosetta for the battle, supporting Xehnon's wish to rid Midgard of godly intervention and takes Adonis' place as Eclipse General. Farant fights Ehrde's occupying troops, who requests reinforcements. Crescent is among them and kills Farant, although Rosetta's troops were occupied long enough to be blindsided by liberation in the form of Paltierre and Arkdain, who isolate Ehrde's troops and kill him. Ehlen dies in an undead attack at Artolia Pass, Crescent is not seen again after this. Seluvia is adopted by Phyress, who devises a plan to destroy Rosetta. She faces Celes in battle and loses her arm. Sylphide eventually dies at the age of 15, pregnant with her son Dyn, but lives again due to Soul Transfer brought on by her lover Guilm. Phyress frees Xehnon and ends the Year-Long War. Phyress marries into Paltierre royalty by becoming the wife of Cyphel.) - 582- Dyn is born in Dipan
- 583- Celes dies from her previous wounds. Princess Chrystie is born in Paltierre
- 586- Xehnon is killed by rioters. (Xehnon is killed by bandits.)
- 593- Seluvia goes underground (Seluvia fears aggression brewing around Phyress' heirs and leaves, so as not to cause trouble amongst the bloodline due to his adoption. He becomes a bard and fights the undead.)
- 598- Chrystie goes off in search of Seluvia, disguised as a minstrel
- 599- The Mist of Nifleheim begins, opening up the barrier between Nifleheim and Midgard. Sylphide is killed by the undead. Dyn attempts to close the barrier, as a warrior-priest. Seluvia and Chrystie attempt to seal the undead away in their journeys (Dyn is absent at the time of Sylphide's slaying.)
600s
- 601- Alm is killed by the undead
- 602- The Mist of Nifleheim ends (Due to Dyn, Seluvia and Chrystie sealing the doorway to Nifleheim. Dyn remains trapped on the other side and is tormented by Hel until rescued by Silmeria. Dyn's memory lives on in Seluvia's ballads, and he and Chrystie are never seen in Paltierre again.)
- 622- Queen Phyress of Paltierre, dies in Paltierre, from a deadly disease
- 627- King Cyphel of Paltierre, dies in Paltierre from grief. Sha-Kon is born on an island southwest of the main continent. (No heir is alive or present to take the throne of Paltierre and it quickly falls into ruin.)
- 630- Kraad is born
- 634- Circe is born
- 639- Tyrith is born
- 650- Sha-Kon dies (Sha-Kon dies after creating a golem mobile with the force of infused souls.)
- 658- Circe dies during the founding of Villnore, Tyrith dies in the sinking of Audoula Temple. Masato is born on an island southwest of the main continent.
- 659- Villnore is founded
- 662- Kraad is assassinated (Kraad is assassinated while quelling a local rebellion.)
- 681- Masato withers and dies on the main continent. (Masato dies due to a mis-cast curse that reflects back upon him.)
700s
- 704- Rasheeka is born in Kalstad
- 705- Arcana is born in Kalstad
- 724- Fourth Kalstad Invasion instigated by Crell Monferaigne, occurs, Arcana and Rasheeka suffer wounds and die with an un-named third ally. Woltar is born.
- 730- Lylia is born in Crell Monferaigne
- 746- Woltar kidnaps the new queen of Crell Monferaigne, Lylia, in the middle of her wedding. (The 60 year old King of Crell Monferaigne demands Lylia's hand in marriage, then 16. Lylia runs away with her love Woltar during the ceremony.)
- 748- Lydia is born. (Lylia gives birth to Lydia in the Salerno area.)
- 752- Woltar's hideout is found, and he is executed by Crell soldiers. Lylia and her child are escorted back to Crell, where she commits suicide. Lydia lives inside the castle walls. (Lylia and Lydia are brought to Crell after the king's soldiers kill Woltar; Lylia commits suicide because of this.)
- 754- Zunde is born
- 769- Lydia is killed by thieves hired by her brother-in-law prince. (Lydia is killed by her step brother.)
- 772- Sophalla is born into the Thieve's Guild in Gerabellum. Dylan is born.
- 773- Sophalla's sister Millidia is born into the Thieve's Guild in Gerabellum.
- 776- Zunde dies presumably in the Oddrock Caves
- 778- Sophalla marries the lord of Gerabellum. Millidia notices a change in her sister as she begins to call for the deaths of innocent commoners. (Sophalla marries the lord of Gerabellum and they attempt to fight against the Thieve's Guild, targeting them for extortion.)
- 790- The lord of Gerabellum is assassinated by the Thieve's Guild
- 792- Sophalla is kidnapped, brutalized and sold into slavery, eventually dying. Millidia takes her place in governing the region with the help of the Thieve's Guild. (Millidia replaces her sister without the true knowledge of the Thieve's Guild's intentions.)
800s
- 800- Dylan dies and becomes an Einherjar to Silmeria.
- 802- Millidia burns the Thieve's Hideout to the ground and dies with them. Officially, she died in an accidental theatre fire. (Millidia learns the truth of their actions and retaliates by burning them all to the ground.)
900s
- 915- Arngrim is born
- 916- Leone is born
- 923- Alicia is born; Silmeria's soul remains trapped within her body
- 941- Game begins
